I sure can't blame you because I'd like to see what the general consensous is to your questions too.

Me, I grew up in the outskirts of the burbs (to my home was all residential homes; past was all woods/farms). Now I live in Cecil County which is also known as Ceciltucky. Shoot, we don't even have a movie theater in this county.

A tractor loses ___ % of its value when it has 9000 hours and is 20 years old.

Curious, are you looking to buy and sell your tractor? I think many of us buy a tractor and will use it until it finally stops working.

geedub,

I think you need to clarify,

"1. According to the dealer, A tractor loses ____ % of it's monetary value the day it is purchased."

vs.

"1. According to the average street buyer, A tractor loses ____ % of it's monetary value the day it is purchased."

You and I both know there's a big difference there... They don't call them "stealers" for nothing...:( But, they're there to make a profit, and that's one way they do it.

Just ask your bank how much your tractor is worth the day after you buy it ;););).

I paid $12600 in May05 for my Kubota B7510HST with the LA302 FEL. I've racked up 155 hours of seat time so far.

One of these sold on eBay in Aug07 for $9401. It had 238 hours on the meter.

That's only one piece of data, but it shows a 25% decrease in value in 2 years.

It's a hard thing to predict.
Lets say, I buy a tractor and finance it for 10% interest, then decide in 1 or 2 years I need a different tractor.
BUT the company is running a special, 2.99% on the same tractor I bought.
Is a regular customer going to not only give up the warranty on a new tractor, BUT also that juicy 2.99% rate?
Another thing to think about, the company runs a special 2000 cash back deal if you buy a new one and pay cash.
If your tractor cost you 15k new, it's now for all intents and purposes worth 13k.
Something else, if the company comes out with a new model that is an upgraded model of what you have.

Soooooooo many variables, it's a hard thing to predict.
Different areas of the country make a difference too.
A 2wd is almost impossible to sell where I am, in other parts of the country they sell decent, here it's a wasted trade, that you WILL sit on or lose your butt on.

There are many 2 wd tractors at work in this part of Pa but most are 90 hp and up, most under 50 are 4 wd.
I don't worry much about resale value but the tractors that hold their value the best in central Pa would be the JD.

I assume your talking about new tractors, because whenever I buy a tractor, it usually ends up being worth more than I paid for it, partly because I am so cheap and won't pay market value for one, and second because it is mine, it is now worth a lot more to me than it was sitting in somebody else's barn.
Now instead of just being a comodity, it becomes a tool and everyone knows a good tool is worth it's weight in gold. If it is of no use to you, then it isn't a good tool anymore and at that point simply becomes a comodity again.
