A Tractor Accident Can Happen to Anyone (Video)

Excellent video thanks :)

At first I thought the narrator was hypocritical as he did not have a ROPS on his own tractor but they saved that for the end.

I wonder if this video should not be posted more prominently in the guts of TBN. It is a great beginner video for a first time tractor owner...

I agree. Thx for posting, Paul.

A very interesting statistic was presented: there have been no recorded
fatalities in tractor rollover accidents where the driver was belted and had
a ROPS.

Okay, I was born and raised in WV. My guess is that less than 5% of WV is flat (Probably more like 10% now with all of the mountaintop removal). Therefore, I am not a bit surprised with the number of tractor rollovers in WV. Plus, WV in not a huge agricultural state, why didn't they do the statistics for a Midwestern state? For comparison, Mississippi had between 8 and 19 deaths per year from 1990-2000. Wow, WV is way up there. Maybe WV has the worst statistics per capita for tractors. That would keep them in line with 4-wheeler deaths!

Also, it sounded to me like the Casto guy that ended up in the water was NOT wearing his seat belt. Shouldn't they have picked someone who survived because of the ROPS AND seatbelt, not just someone that got lucky?

And, of course, they had to play banjo music! Awesome. I wonder if that's the same Jacob Young that made Jesco White famous?

Mr Casto HAD his seatbelt on...which is why he is alive today...

I watched it again, no where does he or anyone else say he was wearing a seatbelt.

The narrator: "Joe Casto knows just how effective a tractor's ROPS can be."

Joe: "...Threw me in the water, underneath the tractor. Whenever I realized I was alive underneath the water, I was able to stand up and bring myself up out of the water."

Joe: "I attribute my life today...to the rollover protection structure of this tractor."

That sounds to me like he definitely was not wearing a seatbelt. Do you know something you aren't telling us? You stress the word "had" like you were there. Maybe he would have been unable to unbuckle his seatbelt if he would have had it on and drowned.

EDIT: Removed phone number.
