A steal on steel????????

I bought some steel to make a hoist in my garage, the inspiration came from this garage.OldCarGuy痴 New Toy Shop - The Garage Journal Board Sit back and grab a beer this is a great read and a great garage.

So the deal i got was all the steel you see here plus 2 pieces that are 36' long that he will cut to size once i figure out what i need. There is enough for a trolley system AND there is a boom hoist in there

All for $300
i thought that was a great price.

I think i need to invite wroughtn_harv up for a visit to Canada for alittle bit of welding

Plus he let me play on his ASV RC 60 [that is for sale] what a nice machine you can defiantly fell the power there and being able to turn on a dime was nice. I like my tractor but this was a whole different animal.

If you paid $300 you didn't get a steal, you got stole.

Then again, the trolly may be worth it - dunno - .

How much should i have paid for a 4 post trolley, and a jib crane?

I think that is a bunch of material for $300! Provide us with updates as you move forward. I am sur eit is going to be a neat project!

Shane, you got a plenty good deal, that will make a very nice trolley. If you are happy with the deal, it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks anyway. Price the stuff new and you'll find out how good you did.

There's no way you can buy that much steel (esp including the two 36' pieces) around here for $300.

I imagine the responses are geared towards what is available regionally, but my vote goes for a thumbs up on the deal.

As was mentioned already, pics and progress updates please!

I have a guess what this is, but not enough to know for sure. Is this something that you will be assembling or rebuilding and using? If so, please post pics of the process and of it in action. That might be the deal of the century if it's what I'm thinking it is.
