Had a B7500
Well, winter is going out like a lion here in SW Wisconsin. The B7500 and I just finished plowing out the 725 foot gravel drive of 6-8 inches of snow. Of course the B7500 with a 6 foot rear blade handles this task with ease.
We have justed listed our country property for sale, and will be moving back to the city. Since our first child was born in December, the commute time, cuts to far into my family time. Moving to a 18,000 square foot city lot, from a 63 acre country estate will be tough. Now I will no longer need the little Kubota B7500. Only 37 hours have ammassed since last April, grading, mowing, and plowing snow. So, once the property is gone, so too will the B7500. If anyone is looking for a very low hour (37) hydro B7500, it will be fort sale after the property sells. B7500 HSD, front weights, filled R4's, Land pride 48" rotary cutter, ford 72" rear blade, KK landscape rake. Always garaged.

Congratulations on your new baby Rob. Our situations are just about reversed. We spent the last 7 1/2 years on a 4500 sq. ft. city lot, 18,000 would have been great. We had our baby girl in Oct. of 2000. We needed a bigger house but even more we needed more land. We found a house on 6 acres that is just outside city limits. We are still minutes from everything but have nothing but trees surrounding us. My wife commuted 45 minutes (on a good day) each way for about 3 years. I finally convinced here to transfer to the local office (which she wasn't happy about). Having a baby that extra 1.5 to 2 hours a day makes a big difference.

Good luck on your move! If you haven't bought yet I would keep looking for something just outside of your city limits with at least an acre.

How long of a commute do you have? could you find 5-10 acres halfway between work and current home. How much of this decision is the wife's?

My wife doesn't have a problem with my commute, she just would like to be closer to family and friends (currently 30 minutes and 45-60 minutes respectively.

Personally, I think kids acquire better values and morals away from the
city/suburban neighborhoods.

I wish you and yours the best.

We are moving to a small community close to my work, 8 miles versus the current 62 mile one way commute. The schools are better and my wife will be closer to friends. We live out in the middle of nowhere right now, though her parents live 1.5 miles down the road, so that makes it ok. I will still have access to her parents land 660 acres, I just wont have my own. The bottom line is I will have more time with my son, since now it seems that I leave before he gets up, and get home after he is asleep.

The family always comes first and its a shame you will have to leave the B7500 behind, but there always the future..and whom ever gets the B7500 w/all the goodies shall be a very lucky person!!

I feel for you Rob. My wife and I are going in the other direction in a year or two when I retire. We'll be looking for 5 - 10 acres (or more based on input from the guys on TBN /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif). I'm in SC Wisconsin, but I've got a feeling the timing isn't going to work out to look at your equipment. You'll probably have moved it already by the time I'm ready to buy. I'd consider it if I 1) had the finances ready to go /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif, and 2) had a place to house it /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif/w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif. Keep us updated, 'cause you never know what might happen. My situation may change (possibility of EARLIER retirement /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif), so I'd be willing to talk. We can't be THAT far away from each other!

Maybe you'll get lucky and find a smaller location that meets all your needs. Good luck!

Rob I went through the same thing. I moved back closer to work years ago from acerage to residential. I couldn't quit dreamin of the country and eventually moved back to a piece of ground closer to work and have been happy ever since. Can you afford to keep the B7500? You could build a neat little house for it on 18,000 sq ft. Give your self time to see if the move is really right for you and your family. It should be worth near the same in just a few years. Don't be depressed good parents always adjust their own life styles to make a better place for the kids. All I'm saying you may realize the best place to raise your family is in the country. Anyway, you can go out once in a while and fire the B7500 up just for fun, and if you wanted, you could have the coooolest mower in the neighborhood. Ed

Robert,

Sorry to hear that you're going to have to give up the wide open spaces for now, but it is easy to understand your decision.

I had another idea about how you can keep your B7500. 8 miles to work, at about 10 mph max. - sounds like you could make it to work in just over 45 minutes. Y'know those diesels are very economical, and who else can say they carry their lunch in their FEL bucket . . . . . .?

Hey Rob, Maybe your new property would accomadate a BX. I just bought a new B7500 in July and have 7 acres. I would have considered a BX if I had a smaller lot.
Good Luck, Jethro
