What the heck is wrong with, "RING!...RING!...RING!"? Call me old fashioned, but I don't need some absurd song or other noise playing to tell me to answer the phone.

The ring tone on my cell phone is the old british phone ring you hear in the old-old-old movies. I took the phone in for repair and the tech asked me if something was wrong with the ring tone. He said he had never heard a ring like that before.

I was talking with a theater guy about his stage. He was really proud of the fact that he had a dial telephone that actually rang from center stage and then he said that the younger actors didn't know how to use it.

I like to try and read the fine print on the ringtone ads when they pop up on TV. Ringtone companies like to advertise late at night over here. I guess thats when people are 'stupidist'. Currently the 'Dead terrorist' ring tone is getting a push. If thats not distasteful enough, you should see the price. If you download it you automatically get signed up for a service that will slug you about $9 every week til to realize it, or work out how to cancel it. So your your ringtone could cost you $500 in 12 months.

My daughter knows a couple who have a combined income of about $80,000 but they don't own a house, and never have any money. They are total suckers for any new gimmick or gadget. The guy can't resist buying the latest hot car every year or two.

Sorry Eddie, I didnt describe it more.
Its just some official looking deed that go on about my ownership of a certain part of the moon I now own. Who knows how much my sister paid for this .She one of the type who will buy anything ""cute'
She just points the cursor and clicks to buy , then the boxes flow into the house from UPS daily .

Has there ever been a time in history when there has been so much absolute rubbish available to waste money on? What sort of fool would spend their hard earned money to actually BUY a ring tone, or pay $3 every day for a joke or horoscope to be delivered on the phone? Does anyone really believe that if you text LOVE to 1800 SUCKER you'll really find true romance?

And thats just the kind of mindless expense you can incur without even leaving the couch. The list of totally stupid things you can waste money on today is mind-boggling. Hardware stores and supermarkets are full of it to. One good thing about the financial crisis is that its giving some people a reality check about the real value of money.

Thats because there are a bunch of people out there that cant get themselves to do an honest days work ! They would rather dream up this rubbish and see if they cant suck somebody into actually buying this garbage !

Of course there are some individuals out there that actually call this free trade !

Not only are we able to spend money on endless inanimate objects, but try to go shopping these days and buy only stuff made in the U.S.A. Or try to do any project without buying at least something made in China. I remember well the days when my dad accurately pointed out that only junk came from Japan. Those days are gone of course, replaced by junk made in China, but all of my life there has been the opportunity for Americans to spend their hard earned money on junk, and today we seem all to willing and eager to do so.

Its not that people MAKE this stuff that amazes me... Its that people BUY it that amazes me.

But there's a million ways we waste money. I recently retired (at 54) so we're being much more money conscious now. Once, if I needed a packet of screws I'd just drive 5 miles to the hardware and buy it, now i'll wait til I need a few things and make the trip worthwhile.
