A Puzzle to tell you if you are subject to Alzheimer's disease

Guys, no post in this thread upset or offended me. I just saw the topic and responded due to some bad news I receved today in regards to my father, who suffers from Alzheimer's. Puzzles and tests are great because the earlier treatment starts the better chance you have of prolonging the outcome. Unfortuanitly there is no cure and in my father's case he fought my mother "tooth and nail" in her efforts for him to seek treatment earlier.

To see my father go from somone who loved to read, hunt, laugh, tell stories, work on his old "cab over" jeep, etc. to someone who sets in a chair all day and no longer knows who I am...

The worst bit, I'd imagine, wouldn't be how he is now, but would be remembering how he used to be.

I wish you all the best.

I got the puzzle with no problem, but I am only 54. My mother had Alzheimers for 5 years before she died at 79....horrible disease. Dad went at 63 from congestive heart failure....way too young, but if I had to choose...take me young.

So, no cure yet for Alz and my thoughts are: eat lot's of red meat, enjoy the liquid spirits, laugh a lot, and live while you can

It is something that almost everyone will get eventually if you live long enough. it's really bad in advanced stages and when it strikes early in younger people.

Otherwise it's a natural progression of life, nothing new and IMO some humor can be found in it, just like everything else if in moderation.

My 86 year old mother is just starting, as should be expected, she is forgetful, repeats herself alot and has some compulsions she didn't have before. I tease her alot, and joke about it with her, because we can still joke about it. Recently she put a cake in the oven and fell asleep, this was at midnight, she didn't wake up til 8-9 the next morning  yeah she could of burned the house down but she didn't, just made a burnt hockey puck! to me that's funny and I keep ribbing her about it.

We also have a big fuss over her bird clock, She has a clock with different kinds of birds instead of numbers. One day I told her that the clock was an hour fast, she argued that no it was the right time, 3:30. I said "Ma how can it be 3:30 when the little hand is already past the fourth bird"?
We must of both sounded dingy with that one  and she wasn't gonna back down. Bird clock and early Alzheimer's is not a good combination.

I have not witnessed late stage dementia, but from all accounts it definitely doesn't sound like something you can have fun with.

Hey, If I can do this puzzle you can ...give it a try...:)

This puzzle is easy to put together if you are not affected by Alzheimer's disease, but impossible to do for someone with the disease. Give it a try.
If this puzzle is particularly difficult for you then your physician can offer you additional testing to check you for Alzheimer's.

...can you define easy vs. particularly difficult? Were there some instructions that went with this? It's an interesting tool. But one person might spend 20 minutes and not feel like they are struggling and another might spend 2 minutes and feel like it was a struggle.

Anyone care to say how long it took them? :)
