I just bought a 03 TN65. Its 2WD with the 8x8 Shuttle transmission. It was used in a dairy but the rust is mostly at the hook up points on the rear and the edge of the rear rims (I am planning on replacing them with a bigger rim anyways so its not a issue for me) I plan on grinding away any rust area's and repainting them. Overall, its still in good shape but shows signs of some abuse. I got it for what I thought was a decent price.

Here's a few problems that I was wondering if anybody could possibly point me in the right direction before I tear the whole tractor apart, trying to figure it out.

The fuel gauge and temp gauge work the but tach and hour meter (which is sitting at 2200 hours) don't work.

From a dead stop, if I push the shuttle forward or reverse without clutching, a error light comes on and I have to clutch in order for it to
engage. If I am in gear moving and I change direction without clutching, it works. I have worked with a TN75S and I know you can shift into gear without clutching from a dead stop.

In the fuse box, the fuse right after the console fuse. I believe its number #7 (15A), blows when I turn the key on.

And one last thing, The belt is making a squeaking noise, it doesn't seem to hurt the performance of the tractor but does anyone know how to get rid of it?

Sorry for the long post. I am 17 and its my first tractor. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is a belt dressing you can usually find at the parts counters of places like Autozone and Napa. This should help with the belt if the belt is what is causing the squeak.

As for the rest of your problems, I can't help you very much but I am sure there will be a few others who will pop up to help you with them. There are some very smart people on here who know a lot about these machines.

The most probable cause for the shuttle symptoms is a fault in the seat switch circuit. The beeper probably comes on when you start the PTO as well. The ECU is not sensing an operator seated. Could be related to that fuse. You should check the wiring to the seat switch and the seat itself. I have seen a couple seat switch wires short out on the fore/aft slider rails below the cushion. Tighten or replace the fan belt. If this is a cabbed tractor, the AC compressor can make the lower fan belt slip and squalk. Some analog tachs are cable driven; a broken cable would disable the tach and hour meter. Tach drive is just in front of the engine oil filter if it is cable driven.

Thanks for all your help. It is a open-platform model and does have a analog tach. I will check those area's and let you know what I find.

The only fusebox diagrams I have here are for cab tractors & I know yours is different. If you don't have any beeping associated with the PTO or park brake, it's a pretty sure bet the fuse is for the operator's presence circuit.

When I start the PTO, the beeper does not go off and the PTO light illuminates on the dashboard. The beeper also does not go off when I am in gear and I stand up off the seat. The beeper goes off for maybe 10 seconds when I turn the key on and it does the same when I shut down the engine if I don't have the parking brake engaged. I pulled the seat off and there was 2 connectors on the sensor plates(one on each) that were broken off. I reconnected them and tried it again but still have the same issues. I will check the wiring going from the seat to the front of the tractor in the next couple nights. Anything else I might try?

Also, I looked again at my fuse box cover and the one that is blowing has a headlight symbol. Its not my headlights because those work. I am planning on getting the repair manuals for the entire tractor.

I pulled the dashboard off and the plastic right angle that connects the cable to the display was cracked and wiggled off. I'm going to buy a new one but when I put it back on, everything worked. Thanks again for all your help.

There are some solenoids in your transmission that may need adjusting. I think they are called solenoids. If you count the number of flashes the emblem makes on the dash you can decode this and it shoulf tell you what the fault is. Wonder how long your hr meter has not been working and how many hrs the machine really has?

Thanks for that information. I will check it out. The dealer said that when they brought the tractor in, the tach and hour meter worked. Whether they are telling the truth or not, I don't know but if I was to guess, It wouldn't be to much more.

I am installing a turbo on it right now and as soon as i'm done, I will post pictures!:D

I dont know about the TN shuttle . On my TC55 i have to push the inching/clutch peddle in before the shuttle will engage the transmssion .My bet is that Rickb hit the nail on the head for the seat switch circut. The lamp fuse could be a rear work light or high beams ? If you got a manual there sould be a symbol chart that you can match up to the fuse box .
