Well, the good news is that I waited till the end of the day before swapping out the planer knives with a new set. I managed to get a lot done before then: rewired a lighting circuit, replaced a shoddy drywall section with a much better piece, and cleaned the entire shop. And I did manage to replace the planer knives just fine. But bloodshed was involved. When instructions refer to a part being sharp it's usually semi-sharp, which leads me to believe the warning is there for lawyers. Planer blades are an exception. Those knives were so sharp I just rested my pinky on one and laid it open for two inches! Yikes! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif No stitches needed, but jeez!
