Hello everyone.

I've got a new Mahindra 2216 that I have a couple of questions about.

First, I purchased a brush cutter and have used it a couple of times. I am just curious if the loud clicking noise that I hear when I push in the clutch when the PTO is engaged and turning is normal?

Secondly, does anyone know if there is an adjustment somewhere to make the 3-point hitch operation smoother? My brother has an old Massey Ferguson 135 and you could use one finger to operate the 3-point hitch. On my new Mahindra, it's not smooth AT ALL! The 3-point raises and lowers fine, but the lever seems to be very sticky and the attachment doesn't seem to want to start moving immediately when I operate the lever. There's a few seconds lag. Also, if you set a position stop (I guess that's what they are called) the implement doesn't lower the same every time. I can set the brush cutter to about an inch off the ground, lock in the position stop, raise the implement and drop it back down. It might be 3" off the ground or it may be on the ground. It's never the same.

Other than these two things, I love my little tractor and didn't dream it could do so much. With some weight on the rear, the FEL works really well. I can't wait to build a rear ballast and get a tooth bar kit for the loader.

There is something wrong with your 3-point. The lever should operate smoothly and on a position control 3-point, your implement should return to the same point every time without any adjustment by the owner. I would contact the dealer since this is a new tractor.

I believe the clicking is normal. Mine does the same thing when the PTO is spinning faster than the drive to it is, must be some kind of ratchet system.

I have never operated a Mahindra, but the clicking does not sound like a normal thing to me. On my Kubota the only sound I hear when I engage the PTO clutch is the whirrring of the mower blades as they free spin.

The only clicking I have ever heard on mine is when I get in a hurry and carelessly start to engage the PTO before I get the clutch all the way to the floorboard. That will wake you up and get your attention back in a jiffy!

TripleR is right about the 3pt operation. It should not be doing what you describe at all. It seems there is some problem in there that needs to be addressed.

My hog won't go to exact same height everytime that I set with postion lock knob thing,,think its got something to do with way wheel sets or something normal like that,,but not like yours it maybe a 1/2 or less different ,,are you on level hard ground, concrete would even be better to check it out,,,if you have a backblade you could check that with it maybe better,if you set it to stop say an inch from blade touching ground, than you would think it should stop very close to that, next time after setting stop.

I think that the clicking is your override cluch or ratchet and is normal. On my Yanmar it is built into my trany, but may be external on yours.

I was on hard dirt when I was messing with the height of the 3-point. I'll definitely check it on concrete and see if it returns the same. The biggest problem for me is the "stickyness" of the lever. It's smooth when there's no attachement on, but if you put some weight back there, the lever is pretty tough to move.

I think I may call my dealer on Monday and ask about both issues.

I would be interested in seeing your toothbar, as I am already considering adding one. Might fab it up or just order one.?. JY.
