Tractor
Kubota L 3800, Austin Western Pacer 100
Got a L3800 now (terrific tractor) but thinking about adding an M135X. I was checking out the Kubota web site and was building the tractor to my specs. but no where did I find A/C as a standard feature or as an option. I would think that since they offer a cab that A/C would be an option. Anybody know if this is available?

A/C is standard on the cab model. If you browse the web page that has the specifications for the M100x M135x models, it lets you download a PDF (m100x_135x_spec.pdf) of the "complete specifications" or something like that. When you open that, you'll see a list of the standard features, which includes A/C on the cab models.

It's not an option so it's not listed. It's standard as is air suspension seat, tinted glass, am/fm CD radio and a bunch of other things.

Thanks Grandad4, I found the PDF.

You're right A/C and heater is standard equipment. Now if I can just convince the wife that I need another tractor.

If you want one, you got 2 choices, buy not (for less $) or buy later (for larger cab). The M135X tractors are coming out with a larger cab and some exhaust stuff for the EPA. They will be more expensive (don't ask how much, I don't know, but it won't be just a little). I have heard that the cabs will be much more roomy, but if you are on a budget, you may want to buy one now.

Probably a jump seat too.

I'm pretty sure the Tier 4 emissions standards will include exhaust gas regeneration (EGR) and possibly DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid Urea 32%) injection, all price increasing and longevity reducing additions.,,,, and the efficiency (gallons per hour consumed versus work performed) goes down.

I'll stick with my (if there is no smoke, there is no fire and if no fire, no power) pre tier 4 emissions tractors.

At some point, I suspect, you'll see a resurgence of the NG powered tractor engine similar to the Duetz of old.

Guess I should've put this thread in the Buying & Pricing forum.
But anyhow, I appreciate all the info. Sounds like tractors are subject to the same emissions standards as big trucks.
I think I'll take a closer look at the used units in this area. There are several available with less than 1000 hours at a price much less than a new one. Hopefully Kubota isn't experiencing any problems with these bigger tractors.

When I buy my next tractor, I sure will be looking for a good used pre Tier IV tractor.

I'm done buying tractors. What I own I bought with the intent of being the last. Buy big and keep it. No reason to upgrade either and of course no payment book.:D

Sadly, I have found as I age, my abilities and needs have/will change, so one or two of the tractors I bought for life may not be appropriate in a few years.

Not long ago, I had to give up my Harley and our 1986 MF 375. My son has the Harley and my brothers use the MF, so they are still in the family so to speak; spent a lot of enjoyable hours on both.

Life does throw you a curve ball now and then.

For what its worth, the new models are using EGR for Tier4i, then probably DEF at Tier4 in two years. Cost increase is 8-10%. They do have dramaticly larger cabs and an extra range in the transmission. The look of the hood has changed, I don't care for it so much. We're moving loads of Teir3 tractors before year end.
