The fan motor on my 12 year old York air conditioner went Tango Uniform last night. Checked the start cap - OK. Checked voltage to the motor - OK. Looks like a new motor. Went down to the only HVAC supplier that is near and bought a new motor. No big deal, I've replaced motors many times. Open it up and the wiring is different and it has a run cap which the original didn't.

The original motor was a 4 wire and the new is 5. Attached are wiring diagrams for both motors. I'm pretty sure that I know how to connect it, but I need a second opinion before I blow up an $185 motor.

Thanks.

OK, OP here. Guess I stumped the stars on this one. Just as I figured, I hooked the 2 browns to the new run cap and mounted it, hooked the black and yellow to hots and all is well. I just safed off the old fan start cap wire.

Thanks anyway.
