I have a chance to pick up a John Deere 9400 4WD tractor, it is in mint condition with 3750 hours. Would appreciate any opinions if you have used this tractor, gonna use it for scraper tractor.

Thanks

The John Deere 9400 was made from the late 90's to 2002. I would highly recommend any 9000 series tractors if you want to get work done. The 12.5 liter 6 cylinder (in line 6) diesel engine Puts out about 420 - 430 horsepower, and you can work the heck of of these tractors with no trouble. So yes, if you have a chance to get one of these, you should definitely jump on the offer.

You may wish to check out heavyequipmentforums.com

They have a scraper section and lots of information on pull pans and tractors. Some of the guys that post drive these machines daily.

The larger Deere tractors have a good rep in farm use, but not so much in scraper duty. Seems that the axles don't/did up as well as CASE/IH/Steigers. That being said, there are lots of them out there.

Is the tractor set up for scraper use? Deere adds bracing and some other stuff when the tractors and used in that application.

Well I bought the 9400 John Deere, 85K for a 1999. I figured that was a good price for a machine in excellent condition.
