I just replaced the belt on my 914A MMM 72" deck. The last step is to adjust the tension on the spring so the spring length is 5-9/16". With the adustment arm extended to its fullest, I'm still over 5-9/16". I bought this tractor used so now I am wondering if anyone else has run into this issue or if the previous owner put a different, longer tension spring on this mower. Any input?

Are you sure you have the correct belt. Greg

Yes, I have the right belt. The old belt (stamped with factory part number) was the same way. It also appears that even with the spring "overstretched", the belt is very loose and flaps around quite a bit. But it cuts nice.

recheck belt routing; can be tricky.
