90 in Mower

Just received a Mower yesterday. Love it. It cuts real nice. What RPM should I be running . I was running about 1950. Was thinking about it for 2 years. Should of did it sooner. Sure glad I ordered the 90 in. Thought it might be too big. Now I wish it was bigger.

I use a brushmonster mower on mine and I run the rpms at 2400 or higher depending on the conditions I am in. The tip speed is important on your mower to get the mulching action for a finish cut. The speed that you are running at may not let it cut as efficiently as it was designed to. You might check with your dealer.

That mower is intended for use with all the oil the Toolcat can supply. Higher engine RPM, more flow to the motor. Keep your engine speed up there and mower will work better yet and you can travel faster. Plus the faster you run the engine, faster the cooling fan motor is running for better engine cooling.

On my '09 5600 the cooling fan is hydraulically driven and not attached to the engine. The speed varies with coolant/hydro fluid temp and not necessarily with engine rpm. I guess if you've got the hydro system max'ed out it could cause your fan to spin somewhat slower than desired.

All Toolcats have a hydraulic cooling fan that varies in speed based on combination of engine coolant & hydraulic oil temp, but the fan motor gets its flow from a gear pump powered by the belt drive form the engine. Slower your enigne speed, less flow from the pump, thus less speed from the fan. Once you reach a temp wear the fan tries to run at full speed, if the engine is at 1/2 throttle, fan can only achieve 1/2 its potential speed and could overheat engine or hydraulics system.
