Ironic isn't it that Christians have killed as many in the name of their God as well.

Sir,

The Bible does not tell Christians to kill anyone. YES, some religious leaders, addicited to power, have encouraged people to kill and do wrong things.

That is not the same as the Koran telling Muslims to kill Jews and Christians.

Be well,

From what I've seen and heard from Washington, the current administration whats us to live in fear. I don't buy it.

mark

Is it just this administration Mark or most if not all of them that want us to live in a little fear. If the sheep are scared just a bit they are easier to control!

Frank,

I did not know anyone directly. It was more Evolution than Revolution. When I got the chance to do something, I chose the option that moved me this way.

The sense of conviction was immediate. I knew I needed to do something. First the National Guard, then the move to DC area, then I finally got a job directly supporting "Federal" business, then I got the chance to work at DARPA for 3 years, and now I'm supporting of one of the "agencies". I bought this place 13 months ago, and it was a stretch. But now my other houses are rented and I'm making this place "functional" slowly but surely.

I am a huge fan of history, especially military history and a bit of an armchair general and a student of tactics and strategy.

I am a firm Constitutionalist, and Christian (Lutheran). From what I know of history and related stuff, this is a real world war, just undeclared. No amount of appeasment or negotiations will change their minds. Most people are just not willing to deal with reality on the ground, they'd rather watch "American Idol" and read People mag.

America was Pollyanna before 9/11 and we are rushing back to that state as fast as we can.

Me, I'm just living in support of my values and trying to protect my family, land/property, friends, and nation (in that order).

Be well sir & God Bless.
David

Talk about hitting the nail on the head!!!! You are right on. I sometimes wonder if the country were faced with a big decision on war (say like 1940's again) if we would have the guts to go to war to defend freedom as had to be done in 1944. I think most Americans, really believe you can talk nice to these people and everything will be fine. I know our president nobama thinks this.

Well I just spent 8 hours yesterday watching all the 9/11 specials. Very very moving and emotional.
Although I might agree we have had some "kneejerk" reactions to 9/11, we also have not had another attack on US soil in 10 years.....which I think is significant.
Unfortunately, We'll never live in a world without terrorism, no way we can completely eliminate it. I like the idea of continuing to target any terrorist organization leadership, with the same results as OBL.

Sir,

What Bible do you read that does not tell Christians no to kill anyone? Yes, it does. How many quotes would you like?

Fact is, religion at times is nothing more than a tool that people use for their own self interests to motivate those who have nothing in their life and don't know any better.

I'm amazed at how many people down south are going to h e double toothpicks for drinking alcohol LMAO

I'm guessing North Korea actually has nuclear weapons. Don't see us rushing into their country do you? Until our own country stops it's dependence on oil, we will always have major interests in the middle east. 9/11 just gave our own government a reason to go in. Exactly how much money can't be accounted for in Afghanistan? I didn't vote for Obama nor will I vote for him in the next election (God help us for who the republicans have running), but Obama didn't get us into this mess in the sand box. I will say however, I do think he has done a better job over there than the idiot from Texas (the son, not the father).

I was all for going at getting the people who did what they did on 9/11, but once we became a police force dumping millions upon millions of dollars so certain people can get rich in the name of "freedom", I begin to wonder.

Obama and the last Bush are alike in the sense that the Congress has allowed them to bilk the taxpayers for the benefit of their respective constituencies. If you hand over a unlimited credit card to a politician, he is going to spend and leave it to the next guy to find a way to pay for it.

Government gone wild, and the citizens pay for it in lives and money.

I remember passing through the break room in time to see the second plane as it made it's final course corrections to hit the tower while the commentators were still saying the first crash must have been some accident by a small plane. Now we know they intentionally picked commercial jets fully loaded with jet fuel to use against us.

It is true that there are false teachers who manipulate the word of God for profit and false motives. Jesus described them as wolves in sheep's clothes (Matthew 7:15), who could be recognized by what they do instead of what they say (Matthew 7:16).

Fact is everybody does some wrong in the sight of God who is absolutely and eternally holy (Isaiah 6:3). We all instinctively realize there is a conflict between God's absolute standard of complete righteousness versus the wrongs done by all men on some level at some time (Romans 3:23).

Some suppress this conflict by saying there's no God (Psalm 14:1) or by questioning (Genesis 3:1-"Did God really say....?" ) what God has said. Others assume the logically impossible task of trying to make themselves "good enough" before an absolutely holy God (Ephesians 2:9) or attempt to justify themselves in comparison to the sins of others (Luke 18:10-14).

But each person has an eternal choice to make that boils down to this. Christians believe Jesus took the punishment sinners deserve before a holy God in order that those who repent of sin and believe that God has made the way to reconcile sinners to Himself through the sacrifice of Jesus are forgiven of sin (John 3:16). But since God has made the way for the forgiveness of sin through Jesus, failure to avail ourselves of this forgiveness leaves us standing condemned already in our sin before a completely righteous God (John 3:18). In effect, it is like being offered a full pardon, but choosing to reject it instead of accepting the pardon that is offered.

At the risk of offending people belief systems, as long as people keeping thinking there is an invisible man in the clouds telling them what to do, we are going to keep having these mass conflicts between believers of different invisible men.

Both sides see the same event, both sides manage to interpret it as a sign from their guy telling them what to do. Solution? No clue, maybe more people thinking for themselves?

If only people remembered the result of every other holy war instead of only the ones begun by those of competing faiths, they might finally come to this conclusion.

Let's not forget the Norwegian terrorist is Christian. 98% (and change) of all American prison inmates are Christian, where only .4% are atheists, yet over 10% of the American population is atheist and only 75% are Christian.

The Islam bashing in this thread does little to flush out the root cause of holy wars, which is anything "holy", not just anything which isn't your kind of holy.

And with the "my book doesn't condone killing other faiths" claims.. I'm atheist and apparently I've read your books and scrolls closer than you have. They all say non believers and people of other faiths are the enemy.

OOPS, we all forget the Anthrax attacks, but if you look up the recipients of those, maybe you think that doesn't count...
