any tricks to hood removal & installation? we took it off in one piece. wasn't easy. took the main hood off the side panels to put it back on. i'm not sure which was worse. almost no access to the front bolts. wasn't able to remove the grill because of corrosion around the captured nuts. in hindsight we didn't have to remove it for what we did (points & cond. on front dist., rebuild gov., plugs &wires ) though it did make it easier. just curious for future reference.

in fact you shouldn't need to remove the hood to do the points or ignition on the front mounts. 2 bolts hold the dizzy in.. pull it off and change points in the comfort of your shop... put it back on.. spin the rotor as you set the dizzy and let it fall into the offset groove int he cam.. take bolts down, add cap, coil, bail, and hot wire and go.

Drain the gas tank, leave the hood one piece.
