I have a '51 8n that when its cold will start and run for 20-30 seconds or so then shuts down abruptly. While its running is fairly rough and squeals real loud like a fan belt. I've removed the fan belt and it still makes the same noise.
It does this while the clutch is in so I dont think its anything back half related.
It has oil. it has new wires plugs, coil, condenser and rotor. I have not dropped the oil pan yet to take a look, no fun when its 15 degrees.
Kinda stumped, crankshaft bearing? distributor shaft?

Thanks

Have you checked the action of the choke or the height of the float in the bowl.

If you've got a squeal when all of your belts are off then you've got metal on metal somewhere. I guess your starter could be hanging up also. Does it sound internal? Is the crankshaft pulley rubbing on anything?

I have been reading the other suggestions and what is the thickness of the engine oil
