About ready to start pluggin up the rust holes in my 8N hood. Does anybody manufacture replacement countour strips to weld in where these hoods typically rust out?
Sure would make it a lot easier.

Find someone who parts out tractors and buy a rotten hood and cut the sections out you need. They might even cut out what you need. I've probably got a couple out back but I'll be too busy the next couple of days to check what's under the snow and ice.

another option is to form some by first making a mold on good are with a release agent and bondo, then use that as a guide.

On to the fenders! Evidently, the original fender had a 1/4" round rod rolled into the outer edge. Of course on mine, they are rotted away. Is this the usual condition? Do I need to put that back? looks to me like it might have been overkill. Seems it might be quite difficult to form another piece of rod and re-insert it. Any better ideas?

if the fender is too far gone. you might want to get repops.

The last one I fixed the fenders on I just folded in the outer edge rather than put a round rod. I just wanted to give it some strength and make it more rigid. It worked fine.
