8n as a first tractor restoration

sweet. I might even buy another n if i could get them for that coinage. ( told myself long ago I wouldn't buy another ford earlier than a 53.. or really a 55.

a 9n/2n narrow front cane model conversion would sure change my mind though :)

I kinda think the 8n or 9n High crop looks pretty neat too. I saw one on American Pickers the other day.

OK thanks a lot i guess i will need to save a bit more cash then i thought, also i have done a lot of work on things like vintage chainsaws and really old air cooled engines, but nothing this big. (first water cooled, first multi cylinder, and first drive train work). I guess i will save up $1500 and then start looking for a 8n.:D

(this post was suppose to be made yesterday but i went to go eat and forgot to post it)

I thought about the cub and my dad and I both also like that one, but i am worried it might be too small. When i finish it i will be taking it to my uncles place and doing things like grading his long private gravel road, and harrowing the riding arenas. I think i will go for the 8n, and save up more cash. Also it is fine if it can barely run (i am planing on fully rebuilding the engine). Thanks for all the advice guys I really appreciate it, i will post the whole project on here so you can follow it. (will probably buy it sometime this fall)

An 8n would be a great one to start with . What you might not know you can find in a manual. Most of it is simple.I have already rebuilt a 1948 /8n and a 1944 2n.The 2n was about 10 years ago and the 8n was last year.Good luck

keep looking. once you find one to buy, get it. worry about restoring it when you have more money.

once you get a runner, about 100$ of oil and tune up parts should make it a reliable runner.. then you can use it while getting the rest of the cash to refurb it.

heck.. doa little at a time.

take a part off.. sand it, prime and bolt back on.. when all done in a few months, wash her down, and paint.. :)
