8BH vs 48BH

I have a 990 and would like to know what is the difference between these types of BH. The Deere website indicates that an 8B is for the 990. Is this a totally different BH? Can the 48 be mounted on a 990.

I can only say what I saw last weekend at the Hebron fair here in CT. There was a used looking 990 with a 48 BH on it. Why they brought what looked like a used machine to a fair along with other new equipment is beyond me. Anyway - I can't say how it was connected, but only that it was there. Have you asked your dealer?

I'm mildly curious as well, as I have a 990 (can't afford a backhoe for quite a while, though). As I recall, the specs for the two are identical, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same hoe with different mounts to suit their intended tractor.

I have an 8B on my JD 870. I have seen the 8B mounted on a 990 on the dealer's lot. It looks like a better match on the 990, but the 870/8B combo has done a lot of hard work for me over the past few years.
