I have an odd problem with my PTO switch, the one up front that has to do with engaging the mower. The tractor starts and runs fine, but as soon as you throw the lever forward to engage the mower, the engine shuts off. It will run for about 5 seconds, then the big solenoid on top of the engine cycles and shuts the engine off. If I bypass the PTO safety switch completely the mower will engage and run fine. When the PTO lever is disengaged, the switch does have continuity. Thanks for any help you can offer, guys.

Yes, there is a seat switch. I take it there is a possibility that it could be causing some kind of problem for the PTO-safety switch?
I can tell you that when I was checking out the safety switches, I wasn't getting 12 volts from the wires that go to the seat switch. I did check them for good continuity, and I had continuity all the way down to the big plug at the brain box on the driver's side of the engine. I don't remember, off hand, what the voltage was, but the voltage at the two wires that come up from the brain box plug and go to the seat switch was pretty low. Thank you for responding. Pat W

Check the fuseable link near the starter. Short black usually in a small loop. Also chech that your brake switch hasn't rubbed a wire bare.
