Snow 855 with 47" snowblower ?

I own an 855 JD and purchased a used 47" blower that had previously been used on another 855 so all mounting hardware came with it. My question is I recently put the blower back on and had a **** of a time. It was almost impossible to get the pto shaft lined up and advance the tractor into the mounting hardware. So, back to the question, what am I doing wrong? There must be an easier way to attach this blower. The pto shaft from the tractor and the recepting sleeve on the blower arpe both about 6" long and must be aligned correctly since it is square.

Hi there and Welcome.

Are you having trouble connecting the 2 piece pto shaft from the mid pto male 21 spline to the front weightbar adapter? That 'square' shaft may only look square but several I use like it are in fact trapezoidal (they only look square). Try fitting it together without involving the tractor mounts. My post hole digger has the same problem if its the issue I'm understanding that you have. If so, the useage may have twisted it a bit or elongated one side of the shaft.

If its a different problem, post again with pictures. We'll figure it out !

Do you think it is a factory hitch for mounting, or a fabricated hitch?

Either way, I'd suggest getting the blower on dolly wheels so you can roll it up to the tractor, and not try to single-handedly drive the tractor to mate the parts.

But zzvyb6 has a good suggestion, and pics would help.

Thanks for the quick responses. This site is awesome. Anyway, it is a factory made setup as nothing has been modified. It just seems like there should be am easier method to this. Do one of the pto shafts come off and then connect after the unit is locked into the main bracket? I might have to take pics....
