I need a hydraulic angling cylinder for my 84" front mounted blade. The model number is 3680M. I have not been sucsessful through John Deere. Any suggestions?

What is wrong with yours? They are easily rebuilt. JD used an odd cylinder on those blades, and the aftermarket does not have one that easily fits in it's place. I have the #380 blade which is pretty much the same thing...

Kenny,
This is the blade I got from Ohio. It has been sitting outside since 2001. The right side angle cylinder gushes fluid. The inside of the cylinder wall is rusted & pitted severly. I can't seem to find a replacement cylinder.

I too owned a 380 blade and the previous owner had rebuilt the cylinders but it sounds like your's needs more than normal attention. My "uncle" is a retired hydraulics man and recently gave me his Sunnen AN 111 hone/stone set (I have borrowed my buddy's set before for honing engine cylinder bores and was tickled to get my own set). Uncle Duke had used the hones he gave to me for honing hydraulic cylinder bores....never occurred to me that this was an option until he brought this up. From what I understood, they often polished cylinders for better seal wear on higher end stuff but he specifically used this set to clean up pitting on damaged bores such as yours. It may be possible that you could have the pitting cleaned up by a local hydraulic shop or depending upon your access to the right tools, do this yourself.

I used a brake caliper hone on mine when I rebuilt them like this: Amazon.com: Lisle 10000 Brake Cylinder Hone: Automotive and it worked pretty good. The seal kit are less than $20 IIRC. The "problem" with these cylinders is they have a weep/vent hole on the bottom that lets moisture in the bore when they are retracted. When I store my blade now, I make sure both cylinders are extended (I take the blade off to make storage easier) and coat the rod's with spray grease.

JD sells the cylinders, but at over $200 I think.

I rebuilt a cylinder for a guy once who couldn't get parts. I miked the piston and machined it down to fit a SS sleeve which I lock tighted on. Works fine for occasional use but everyday use you will want to harden it.

I live in Northern Virginia. Does anyone know of a reputable hydraulic repair shop in this area?
