Has anyone changed the oring and washer (17) load control on a John Deere 820 3 cyl.? If so what is the secret of getting the plastic washer back in without tearing it up?

TIA

I haven't but just brought the tractor in from the ranch and this is on my list to fix. Ordered the parts today as a matter of fact.

I take a pair of needle nose pliers and squeeze o-ring together, insert in groove and use a round smooth object to get o-ring to seat.

Might be difficult to change without removing the cross shaft, but I agree with pinching and slight folding to work it in. I would warm a cup of water in the microwave and put the nylon washers in it to warm them up before installing them.

If you have the housing drained and top removed where you can get to the cross shaft then I would remove it then install the orings and washers. You should be able to disconnect the shaft internally and slide it either direction to accomplish this.

I heated a pan of water to boiling and let the washer cook for about 10 minutes and squeezed it together and it went in.
