Can you feel any down pressure at all? You might be going by gravity and that means something is definitely wrong. Unless your using the float by accident, then you have a problem. My 1070 will lift the wheels way off the ground, thats what the turning....steering... brakes come in handy. Try holding the lever pushing the arms down for several seconds, raise your RPMs to speed things up and see if that does anything.

I just rotated the bucket down, put two 6x6 posts under it and it lifted the front end at idle. Put jack stands under it, swapped the front tires, torqued everything and I'm good to go. As several said I was just at the end of the lift arms movement even with the bucket at its lowest point. Thanks to everyone for their help.

GREAT!!!
Don't forget to increase the air pressure in the fronts! I go about 25 PSI if I'm using the loader.

When I bought my 790 about 3 years ago, the shop foreman suggested I switch the hydraulic cylinders on the fel from front to back for more lift. I did that, and no problem lifting the front wheels off the ground. There is a risk however of over-stressing the fel.

Interesting, what exactly is switched to improve lift? the bucket cylinders? turned around? so the body of cylinders is closer to bucket?
I have a 770 and am intrigued by this :)

I'd be curious about that as well...

Some here mentioned shimming. I did this...can't say I noticed too much difference but I had no way to quantify the "before" and "after" capacities. Some gents on TBN used 50 or 100 lbs bags of sand or cement to do this.

For those of you who are interested, the attached .pdf file (you'll need Adobe Reader) describes what to do. I can't recall who posted this originally. I justed added some of the graphics.
This refers to the 790 only...

Your right Jaybr, I didn't notice my cylinders bottoming out before, but they are.

Re-tried it with cutting edge pointing down, no problem, picks 'em right up.
