Was out today doing a few driveways for family and friends and while doing my mothers I noticed my clutch got real soft. I thought oh no my clutch is coming out. It just didnt feel right but it operated with no problem. Finished it up loaded the tractor went to the next job and my mother called and said she found a spring out in the driveway with one of the clips broken off. Bingo I figure that is what I felt How important is this spring. I dont even see where it goes. But I'll crawl under it tommorrow to look again. I appreciate any help.

Yeah there is a spring, just look right above where you grease the clutch pedal under the left hand foot rest and you will see where it attaches to.

It will be at least a week before I can get one. It seems to be doing ok without it. Will I damage something if I continue to use it until I get one.

The spring you are referring to is the clutch pedal return spring. It pulls the pedal back far enough that the throw-out bearing does not rest on pressure plate fingers. Short term use like this should cause no problems. I would not recommend putting it off too long since it is causing a little extra wear and tear on throw-out bearing. Now would be a good time to check your free travel also. Without the spring, you should be able to pull back on your clutch pedal a half inch or so. If you have no mvement back on the pedal, you definitely need adjustment. The adjusting rod is under left step also. It is easiest accessed by removing left step. Good Luck!
