Oil & Fuel 755 Stalls frequently

My 1986 755 has been a gem, but recently it is stalling frequently. When this happens the fuel filter glass bulb is empty. If I open the bleed valve the bulb fills and tractor starts happily. Any ideas? I have had a little sediment at the bottom of the bulb.

What have you done to clear the line up-stream from the bulb?

Some use air pressure to blow back in the line to see if there are obstructions that have built up.

Does yours have the small electric fuel pump ? It won't run much off idle if that go's , I also had to clean the tank on mine it was packed with that algae that grows in diesel

Good ideas...both.
I did check the line and no fuel flowed. I thought that the tank outlet may have a one way valve or something. If that isn't the case I'm pretty gummed up! How do I get rid of the gunk? Thanks

Turn the key to the on position , Can you hear the electric pump running ? Disconnect the line between the mechanical pump and the electric , Get something to catch the fuel , Turn the key to the on position see if any fuel runs at the outlet side of the pump. Should be a steady flow ! To degunk your tank , First, Drain the tank, remove the hood, grill and side panels. Then pull the sending unit out of the tank , Be careful not to wreck the gasket under it or any wiring. Then I removed the lines and tank. I fashioned a giant Q - Tip ( steel rod, rags, and duct tape ) to swab out any gunk in the tank and rinse with clean fuel. Then clean the brass screen on the sending unit mine was packed. Now reinstall.

The cap is also vented-make sure it works. After it stalls or while it's stalling open the cap and see if you here air rushing in, meaning the tank is under a vacuum so the fuel won't flow.
