Hey all so my JD755 has started to pour out hydraulic fluid from the left side of the rear axle. Doing some research it looks like there is a rear seal and bearing just like a rear diff of a car/truck. Has anyone done this repair before? any tips or secrets, do i really need to remove my ROPS?

Thanks.

I've never done that repair, but yes you do have to remove the ROPS in order to remove the final drive. The ROPS bolts go through the ROPS, through the final drive housing and thread into the transaxle case. It's not that hard of a job to remove the ROPS... I've done it several times by myself with the aid of an engine hoist or other overhead rope, etc. to hold the weight while removing the bolts.

yea except my ROPS is covered by a homemade cab that was made by the previous owner and is going to be **** removing.

Sigh... I guess that what happens when i was in the middle of making a temporary shed for the tractor instead of being in the garage, the 755 didnt like the thought of its new home.

I just looked through the manual and you do have to remove the final drive in order to replace the rear axle seal. Did it just start leaking or did you get something wrapped around the axle that took the seal out? Either way, looks like you'll be removing that cab to to get this repair done. I never did like cabbage.

it just started to leak about a quarter size every 2 weeks, then i used it yesterday and pushed it pretty hard spinning tires and pushing dirt, parked it and the next morning i had a puddle 2'x4'.

Upon closer inspection i looks like i can remove my rear window and take the ROPS out that way ill find out tomorrow.

well looks like both bearing are crushed and on the way out it ripped the seal.

Basically when i was pushing the tractor the rear end was hopping around when i was trying to push and i guess that killed the bearings.

Spinning tires is one thing, wheel hop = bad. Don't do that.
