Kubota B7800
I'm looking into purchasing 72" mid mount mower deck for a B7800. Do I have to go with a Kubota or does Landpride or woods also make them for this tractor. I would consider used as well but I am exploring all options.

The only afermarket belly mower I've seen that would fit was run off the rear PTO. Not really the ideal set-up. Seems I recall seeing a Kubota belly mower on CL recently. I never look outside New England, so maybe a search my turn up the same mower for you. If my recollection is right, it fit the 7800, 2710, and 2910....... though I'm not sure if it was the 60 or 72 inch.

I've always got my eyes open for a used 72" belly mower for my 3030 also, but have yet to find one that isn't priced 'as new'.

Yeah I do hear you, when you think $3300.00 for just the mower deck, hummm? Might as well buy a 54" or 60" garden tractor, takes up less space stored then the 72" when not being used.

I'm in the same boat. I'd only put a mid mower on if I can find a used one, not to mention I have to add the mid PTO to run it. Still looking for a good rear mower now and maybe settle for a small lawn tractor if nothing comes along pretty quick. The grass is starting to get up there now.

I was only considering it because the B7800 has a center PTO but I just can't justify that kind a money for a mower deck. That's pretty much double what most quality implements cost.

I had the 60" on my BX23 TLB and it cut the grass,( notice I said Grass not lawn) great, but was part of the package when I bought it.When I bought the B3200 TLB I was going through the same thoughts as you. I went and bought a Woods RFM 72" built like a tank and cuts great as well. Not going to tell you the RFM cuts better then the 60" mmm, they both cut great. The Woods was about $2500.00 if I remember correctly, savings of $800.00 and very easy to take off.Don't forget the RFM can be used my many different tractors and the mmm are usually for a certain model. I now have a Grand L3540 and use the RFM with that.

It all depends on how serious you are about the finish. I own a 64" Flail and a LP 60" rotary mower deck. If you remove the FEL then the MMM is king.

I have the 60" MMM on my B7800 and wish I had the 72". I paid $2000 for mine new.

I have very steep land so a ZTR will not work. IMHO the Kubota MMM for the B7800 provides the finest cut available today. If you want a happy client and do not need to mulch or bag, the 72" MMM for the B7800 is worth every penny.

Note: The MMM on the B7800 is very different from the one you can mount on the BX23. I had one of those in the past. They are very nice but lighter then the one for your B7800.

I hope this helps.

The Kubota dealerships that I frequent here in NH often have used mmm's for the larger B series tractors in stock. I have no idea how they are priced. You might try Pinnacle View Equipment in Walpole, or Townline Equipment in Plainfield. Both are close to I-91, and it might be a nice drive for you. (Both have web sites) Good luck in your search Timber. I think that folks often buy that kind of thing without looking at their land closely ( the pictures of your land that you have posted look suitable), or haven't thought much about installation, and removal since they seem to be found used fairly often around here. ( Those mowers are BIG) I have a 3+ acre "yard" but have so many obstacles, and slopes that I think I would have to do a lot of trimming with a smaller mower anyway. This is the third year I have debated putting one on my smaller B, but I haven't done it yet. :D :D

I am all about getting simple and getting rid of equipment. I ditched my two garden tractors these past few months, and am refocused now on either a RFM or MMM for the B.

-or- the B goes completely and I get ONE ZTR.

Yeah, the decks seem costly, but the garden tractors only made it to 100's of hours before I had to start replacing crap on them.....
