7108 loader problems

I have run into two problems which seems to have occured simultaneously.

I lost the float completely and the joystick will not pop back to neutral by itself when lowering the boom. I can only stop it by pulling the stick back manually. All other functions are normal.

I did a search and other posts indicate this may be caused by bent linkage. I removed the joy stick cover and the linkage seems a little too stout to be easily bent.

Do the other posts I read refer to internal linkage or am I misreading?

You have problems in the detent assembly which is attached to the opposite end of the valve spool from the joystick linkage.
