3 times in the past two weeks the right side draft arm on my mower deck has disconnected itself from the hole in the rear draft deck support bracket. The drilled pin works itself out of the hole, and because the right front tractor tire is very close to the deck wheel, when the arm disconnects, the tire rubs the deck wheel mount.

I've checked three times to be certain the mower deck is properly installed and leveled, and I cannot understand why the drilled pin would disconnect itself when the spring should keep it in place. The third time this happened, I safety wired through the roll pin to keep the arm from disconnecting again.

Has anyone else experienced this with their JD?

Yep, When I had my 4300 with 7 iron the pin on the right side would also come out. One day when mowing it was doing fine then I went to raise up so I could go to lunch and only one side of the deck was lifted. Checked and the pin came out. I just replaced it with a little longer on I had laying around.

I have seen this prob in the shop as the techs replaced a transmission housing on a 4400 because the pin came out and the people were trying to raise the deck but raised it too far so the one arm went up far and put pressure on the housing. A 900 dollar repair.
