6mm grease zerk adapter

How are your heating the bushing. I know o/xtorch, but are you trying to get the entire bushing cherry red? Big mistake. Choose just one side of the bushing to heat. If you try to heat all the way around the bushing, you will heat and expand the pin at the same time. Heating in just one spot on the bushing will expand the bushing without heating the pin. If you have already heated the bushing multiple time, it might already be to late as heating to cherry red and then cooling will cause the bushing to shrink, making it even tighter. You said you had already made a press out of 1/2in plate and bolts. Reinstall the press and apply as much pressure as it will take. Then heat the bushing, just concentrating on just on spot on the bushing, once hot, just walk away with the press still under pressure. As the bushing cools, you might just hear a pop as the pin moves. I have removed pressed on sprockets off 6in dia shaft this way after watching mechanics apply three torches at the same time trying to heat the sprocket. They said I was crazy, until they tried it and it worked.

I tried heating the entire bushing but could never get it cherry red. I will give your idea a shot. Thanks!

Good advice!
