A freind was given a 680 Hydro, model 144680110 it has a 12HP Kohler. It will start and run but he has no other info on the mower We need any info on this machine we can get. Thanks

By your number, your 680 was made in 1984. It is the same as the more popular model 682 but uses the 12 HP Kohler single rather than the 17 HP twin in the 682. These were made by MTD in lesser quantities in response to previous Cub Cadet owners who wanted a replacement for their aging older Cubs yet still wanted a garden tractor with a cast iron single cylinder engine. Smart on their part, as the K301AQS 12 HP single is a much better engine than the original KT17 twins used in the 682/782's.

thanks for the info he is trying to restore the tractor to original. I,m trying to find a service manuel for it any ideas where to look?
IHRegistry Home has many service manuals you can download for free. There might not be one specifically for the 680 there, but you could piece the info from the 682/782 manuals (The base tractor is the same as the 680) and the Kohler K301 engine together to have all the info you need. It should be an easy and straightforward tractor to restore, and one worth it as they are somewhat rare to come across. An older IH version was called the 1282, virtually the same as the CCC 680, it's manuals would be useful too.
