Starting to look at a new 6430. Wanted to get a feel for folks experience with the 6030 series and what options are a must have. Tractor will be used for hay - square baling with a high capacity baler, round baling, stack wagon, etc. Probably go with two wheel drive and no FEL. We have 5 other older John Deeres (newest one bought new in 1984!) that will handle the FEL, tedding, and raking chores.

What do you guys think?

well, i climed in a 6330 today and one word comes to mind....NICE!! from what i understand, the 6430 is Deere's delux tractor in that series, meaning you can get all kinds of things on it. one thing i have been told by many, but can't confirm, is the option for a small refridgerator. yeah, i said refridgerator.

i would honestly like to see a 6430 all decked out just to see how big the fridge is. the 6330 i was in today, was as nice as i've ever been in though, i can tell you that! they'll make haying enjoyable, put it that way:D

They are really nice. Have you considered a 5000? A 5625 will do the baling no problem. Stack wagon - no sure.

6000s are beefy - sometimes I wish I had gone bigger but the reality is 5525 does what i need. The refrigerator option is really interesting sounding. HID lighting They have some cool automation stuff also.

Ordering a 6430 could take a while - lots of options. I bet you spend $75K on it also. ;-)

If $70000 for a new tractor doesn't float your boat, take a look at the new deere 6d series. It looks like a 6000 series tractor with a 5000 series deluxe cab. Looks about $9000 cheaper than a comparable 6030

Actually, getting into a 6430 with 2WD and no FEL is only about $4,000 or so more than my 5425. The 2WD doesn't come with the premium cab, which saves money. Dropping the MFWD, FEL and some other features makes the tractor downright reasonable. :D

I dunno man, that 6030 is pretty hot. I saw a premium with all the HID lights, etc. That is one serious tractor.

Really Is that compared to a 5425 MFWD?

When I bought my 5525 cab MFWD I looked at the 6415 also. It was going to be $10K more for it. I figured my wife would shoot me if I came home with that...

What is the big difference with the premium?

I haven't gone through and looked at everything line by line, but the premium only comes with MFWD, has more transmission options, and the list goes on from there. I don't recall the exact numbers, but from what I recall, the 6430 isn't more than $6,000 above the 5425. Things still need to be firmed up but I am pretty shocked with the prices I have heard so far... I hope nobody has made a mistake. :D

But even on JD's configurator, the 6430 optioned out as a 2WD with no FEL stickers at $59,000. :D

Interesting, I bought my 5525 cab mfwd withOUT FEL for $41K in 2005. I believe it was $51K or so for the 6415.

Oh well - I love looking at tractors. Can't wait for the 4520 cab to come in.

I seriously considered a 6430 tractor...honestly rather have it than a new sports car....that said I loaded it up and priced it...wow list around $90K with a FEL. Cash money could be bought for a lot less but still when it really came down to it...it was more tractor than I needed...wanted it but really couldn't justify it. Lack of any ability to use class 1 implements also caused some concern...

So I ended up with a heavily equipped 5525...which I love...but

I still long for that 6430 with low profile extra wide Agri-Bib Michelin's

Guess I can still keep dreaming...

If you can swing it do it....get the fridge too!

I did not know that no Cat 1. Yeah, that is a bad thing in my book.

I sure like the 6000s, but I have yet to find something I can't do with my 5525 that a 6030 would do.

What all did you get on it?

Another aspect is you can trailer that 5525 easily compared to a 6430.

Looks like the fridge is only available on the premium cab. Because we don't need MFWD, we can't get the premium cab. Not really that big of a deal. A cab is better than an open station. :D

Most of the equipment used with the 6430 will be pulled via the drawbar.

The tractor will spend all its days on the hay farm. No worries about hauling. I think we'll be able to get it for around $48,000 ~ $50,000 depending on options.

My 5525 does all I need just really wanted the 6430 for ego...

what did I get on my 5525? you name it I got it...fully loaded cab tractor...only thing missing no FEL...own a wheel loader so didn't seem necessary....I even special ordered. Nokian directional radial tires...give me better grip in both snow, mowing and field work...not a tillage tire but great for everything else...
5525 I can trailer behind my F-550 easily...a equipped 6430 would be much harder and require more trailer and even possibly more truck...too expensive a move for me.

Agri-Bibs? Part of Michelins low profile, low pressure tires 620/60-38 very wide very flat and square....look very cool...particularly with fenders etc.

Did you get the triple rear deluxe valves?

I wish I had done that.

Good call on the 5525 - why not a 5625?
D.

I would see if the IVT--infinately variable transmission--is available in that configuration. It is expensive but worth it if your operation can benefit. Like a hydro. Also if you can get the E-PTO thing that allows you to have 540 PTO at 1300 or so RPM is a nice touch and saves fuel and wear and tear if you don't need the HP. I'd get the radial tires if any compaction concerns. It uses standard front weights.
They are a beautiful tractor and while I do not own that exact model am familiar with them. An order shoule be no problem and priced right.

E-PTO rocks. I used it on my 5525 last night to broadcast seed.

That IVT looks awesome, I need to drive one.

yes I did get the triple valves, e-pto, bascially you name it...I got it....love the tractor....just still dream about a 6430. Really love a JCB Fastrac too....but neither is really necessary nor practical for my needs...but I guy can dream.

Cheers

Stopped by and looked at a 7330 this afternoon, but I didn't have enough time to drive it. Just wanted to see what Derrick had on his lot. They have an interesting mix of open, cab, and low profile - orchard type tractors. A 7330 isn't on the shopping list, but it still is nice to look at! :D
