6430 Premium Tractor (95 PTO hp)

I am looking for information user information on the above tractor, and particularly about the Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT).

HST type operation (hands on steering wheel and joystick, forward and reverse all done by foot with zero clutching) is a priority. I currently use a Kubota 5030HSTC. I want to go up in weight and HP, but I want to maintain the HST ease of use.

Does the IVT mimic HST in operation? The closest dealer is a 4 hour round trip, so you guys are the best resource.

The IVT only allows a left hand reverser as an option. No foot "hydro like" controls.

My dealer had 2 delivered today. Man, they are nice. Sun roof and the optional refrigerator on the left side - super slick.

My next major purchase will be either a new JD baler or a 6430. I'd like to have a 4 wheel drive. It probably wouldn't be all that much different than my 6400 but just updated. I don't need the IVT but would get the PowerQuad Plus trans.
I hope to get a new tractor and baler and get them paid for before I retire in the next 10-15 years. That way I can keep busy baling hay after I retire.

If I get another baler it will probably be a John Deere 567 or whatever model it is by then. My 535 baler is a '91 model and really should last indefinately for my use but if I try to do more baling I'll need a baler that can cycle the hay through it faster. Actually the only speed difference would be having a baler with netwrap.

The truck is a '59 White 4400TD. My dad drove it when it was new, I was 3 years old when I first rode in it. Originally it was a tractor with a fifth wheel. Dad put over 900,000 miles on it before the company traded it in. The dealer kept the truck and made a wrecker out of it. It's been only 25 miles from my house since '67. I bought it two years ago and started the restoration. It has a 220 Cummins and a 10 speed RoadRanger trans. Mechanically it's in pretty good shape now, just a few issues remaining. I hope to get it in the bodyshop this year for a paint job. It's going to be red like it was originally.
I bought another truck last summer. It's like the first truck Dad drove, a '57 White WC22 Mustang. Flathead 6 gas engine. It'll be red eventually.

absolutely love the 6430 Deere. Just wish I could justify buying one....really too big for my needs...but **** I would love one. It is the best looking tractor period...get it with the wide/low profile Michelins and WOW. About a 100K list with all the goodies but **** worth it...rather that then a sports car...but I am a little off.

Good luck post some pictures if and when you get it.
