Hopefully someone here can help me. I am trying to remove the steering cylinder on my 6420 tractor with the 730/733 axle. I have removed both tie rod ends and taken the three bolts off of the plate on the left side but I cannot seem to get the cylinder to come out. I've tried putting a pipe wrench on it to see if it will spin in the case and it won't. I'm thinking maybe the head gland on the right side has to come off but I can't get it to budge. Any suggestions?

The cylinder should come out once the bolts are removed. It probably is rusted in tight. You should be able to reseal the cylinder without removing it from the axle. There should be a snap ring on the right side, remove it and then the head gland should push back in the cylinder to access another snap ring inside the barrel. Remove it and then the rod and gland both will pull out the right side to change the seals.

Ok, I will try that. I did remove the snap ring but I didn't try to push the gland back. Thank you for the help.
