Sorry to here about this. Just wondering how they got everything. Was every loaded on a parked trailer so someone could just backup and go? There was a person in the center of my town that owned a plumbing business and he had his small compact backhoe on a trailer just parked behind his business and someone hookedup to it and drove away in the middle of the night. I dont think I would ever leave a loaded trailer parked so someone could just backup to it and drive away.

Hope you get everything back and the people responsible get caught.

No, the tractor was sitting next to the barn. The trailer was parked on the other side of the lot locked up with a hitch lock. They cut the back pasture fence, knocked down a gate, busted the lock on the trailer, and I'm assuming hot wired the tractor and loaded everything up. The only thing they didn't get was my 6' mower.

You should be disabling an unattended tractor. Electrical/Fuel/breaks etc.

But it looks like these guys were professionals, so the best you could have
done was to slow them down. Next time remove the wheels from a trailer
and store them in another location. That way they would have to bring
their own trailer. Drive it with a stolen car, trailer etc. It would complicate
things for them. Risk/reward ratio would swing in your favor.

I hope you got insurance for it. Don't worry they will be caught.
Sooner or later. The problem is they will not get any jail time.

Each time I read a story like this reminds me of my buddy in college.

Had is car radio stollen a bunch of times, window in car broken most times, super frustrating.

Last time he put in a new radio he taped razor blades to the underside of the radio.

Sure enough, they brake in again, this time the radio was not stolen, but his carpet got stained all red.

I've had a car stolen, worste feeling ever.

Tractor theft is treated as misdemeanor in most jurisdictions.
In Canada, they would do squat. But this was Texas, so maybe they'll
get a bit more.

I've had a car stolen, worste feeling ever.

Same here; I felt stupid. I could not believe they would take
my lousy Honda Civic. Since that experience I put overkill protection
on all my property. Risk/reward. Make it hard for them.
They will pass you by for an easier prey. Thiefs are cowards with
wolf mentality. They go after the easiest kills.

Yeah, it was definately someone that did their homework. The police said it wouldn't be surprising if it was someone I knew. I'm in the process of dealing with the insurance now, so hopefully in another month or two I will be back in business. The only thing not covered was the trailer, so I'm out that and my down payment. I guarantee the next one I get will be stored in a secure storage lot. It's worth the $50 a month. I'm just glad the horses didn't get out of the cut fence and wander down the highway.

I wonder if there is some data base that would flag the serial # of the stolen tractor when someone wants to buy parts in future. With car parts the first question; what's the vin#? Does it work the same way with tractors? However, I don't know even if the computers watch for such things? I'm suspecting there would be a huge cost to tracking such things and who would pay for it?

Being you are so close to Mexico they may try to take it across the border. It would be hard to catch them then. Alert the local dealers and auction yards so they can help look to. Hopefully you will be able to get them

And make sure your local LEO has entered all the numbers in the NCIC (national crime information center) files both vehicle (trac and trailer) and articles (attachments) as well as any OAN (owner applied numbers) you might have done. If anybody runs them they should light up like an x-mas tree. Good luck on any locates (found) Don't know if border patrol does NCIC veh checks on crossings. I'm in IOWA

Well good news. My tractor was recovered in Waller County Texas and I received it back in Feb. I've been busy working offshore and haven't checked the board in a few months. My thanks to Mahindra for flaging my tractor. Can't ask for any better service than that. I got my tractor back in perfect shape, with only 8 hours added to it. Thanks to everyone for their support.
