60\" MMM mowing too low - what to look for?

I put the 60" MMM back on my BX2200 as I'm fairly confident the snow is gone. Mowed the lawn the first time and had to set the height control knob at "TOP" instead of my usual 3.5" setting because the actual cutting height when set at 3.5 is more like a short 2" for some reason.

It was cutting so low the deck was plugging up and the mighty 'Bota diesel was bogging down, even though the grass was completely dry and I had a newly sharpened blades on the deck. The only thing that changed between the last mowing last year and this year was taking the deck off for snow removal and putting it back on this spring.

I've got the ant-scalp wheels adjusted correctly, but am stumped as to what to check next that could cause such short cutting heights.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what to check or what might be out of whack that would cause such short cutting height?

When I got mine, I wanted the deck to raise higher when in the TOP position, remove the deck and they you can get to the height adjustment mechinism from the bottom side, you can adjust it from there, it was probably not locked and the adjustment just vibrated down.

webhund,

No offense meant---but are you sure that you've got it connected correctly? Are the back pins connected to (through) the hydraulic linkage? Is the front bracket correctly mounted and secured?

If it is, I'd check to see if the mower raises with the hydraulics. If it does, and you then set the mower setting to "Top" and release the hydraulics, it should only go down a 1/4" or so.

If it goes down more, something is broke...

I suspect you have not mounted the MMM correctly. J

Thanks for the tips. I'll double-check the connections/linkages this weekend and see if I can find anything.
