Since last post, I've decided the easiest would be to just have a new draft made up that is longer. Threaded on the ends, and bent to hold the front of the deck. Would only need to extend it in length by 2" (2 1/2 to be safe ) and using the X495 draft as a pattern.
Everything else would fit then and no changes need to be made to the deck or the tractor.
John True, not a perfect direct pin-on fit.
I hooked it up (the 54 deck under the x485) and the draft bail in the front is too short. About 2" is what it would take. But everything else lined up very well....lift arms and lift points on the deck, and the PTO. Can't think of anything else that would be needed other than the longer draft. Seems one could be fabricated out of 1" bar bent to the right "U" shape and threaded on the ends.
Deere dealers don't mess with anything that is not a direct fit. Trust me....I worked for one for several years after I retired. And they don't want to admit to something old being better than what they are selling new.
