I have a 2520 John Deere and am looking for a 5ft Tiller .....has anyone used the King Cutter tiller ? I see that they come with no grease , oil in them etc.. is there a better tiller for the price out there ? I am just going to use it every now and then....

I've been very pleased with mine. Bought it last Spring. Probably have ~15 hours on it. It would be kind of light for commericial use. I don't anticipate using it more than 10 hours/year. Good value for the $$.

IMO -- you will not find a better tiller for the money. I as well have been very pleased with my 4ft KKII gear drive tiller. ;)

Being the cheap guy that I am, I always look at used first.

With that said, many/most gray market yanmars come with tillers. One in nice condition can be had for $100-$125 ft of width.

The tines on mine were still in very good condition, lot of paint still on them, and the gear train is so quiet I have to turn around some times to see if it's running. These tiller don't have std cat1 hitch measurements but I was able to connect directly to the tractor. After getting a quick mount hitch I did the mods on the tiller to meet cat1 specs. A 1400 model is what you'd be looking at. 1400mm = 55", just short of 5'.

Have not had any problems and just finshed last month using the tiller to work up old pasture, abt 3A. Not a peep from the tiller.

Something to think about if $$$ is an issue and there is a dealer within reasonable distance.

We have a 5' King Kutter and it has been one of the best purchases made. It is used often and has always done a good job for us.

The paint job is not the best, but for the price I can put up with that. I wouldn't recommend it for really abusive work, but it has been into some really hard ground and done the job without complaining.

Now if you can find a good used one for a lot less money - well that just leaves you with cash to spend on something else.

Good luck

They have two different levels. The cheaper version is red I think. I got one of the yellow KKII models. Paint job is poor..dosen't seem to want to stay on the tiller, but other than that, it has been a tank. Good and heavy so it'll bite deep, well balanced, and priced fair. I don't think you would go wrong with one of them. Mike
