I have a 580B, been a while but I got my seal kits from equipment parts store; here's their 580C seal page

Prices are a LOT higher than when I bought mine (surprise...)

There's also Broken Tractor -

In EITHER case (pun NOT intended, but I'll take it :=) be REALLY sure which cylinders YOUR machine has, split piston or 1 piece piston - may need to disassemble BEFORE you buy - The B and C could have EITHER type.

Hoses - I agree on getting them made locally - ONE MORE CAVEAT; on the hoe boom, the 580B had separate short pins and bushings (one set per side) coupling it to the swing tower; not sure about the C model, it may ALREADY have a 1 piece LONG pin thru both sides of the boom - if your boom pins are the short ones, you can't get those any more - I found this out the HARD WAY, had to buy a LONG pin/bushing kit, STILL haven't changed that out because my hoses aren't LONG ENOUGH to reach AROUND that long pin (instead of BETWEEN the two short, worn out ones)

Bottom line: check this out on your C before you buy hoses...

Also, you might find a cheaper price but if you're gonna re-seal the entire hoe (12 cylinders total on the C) this tool will probably save you an hour or two PER CYLINDER when installing the internal rod seals -

I did about half the seals on my 580B BEFORE I bought the tool, the "before" seals took at least an hour more than the 2 I've done SINCE.

HTH... Steve
Looks like my 580C has the shorts pins and bushings for swing to boom tower. They are also worn out, so looks like I'll have to retrofit the long pin. Which is a bummer because those hoses are in pretty good shape still. I wonder if there are any aftermarket short pins anywhere.

Good news is that my machine has the single piece hydraulic pistons.

I really appreciate all the great advice from everybody. More good information than I ever expected.

I have a 580K. I had a small shop do the first two cylinders boom/dipper. Those have the highest torques so I probably did ok there. I have gotten all my seals from Hercules. https://herculesus.com/index.php
They also have the Seal Twistor as they call it. Very handy as others have mentioned. I also agree a legit manual is worth it. I bought a torque multiplier for the high torques required on the piston bolts. My manual also states to cover the first (six?) threads with blue Loctite. One thing that guy who rebuilt mine did was he drills a new hole for the small locking screw on the gland nut. I thought that was odd but after I got my manual that's also how they say to do it. I've watched a few YT videos to see if someone had some good tricks and they often just line the half moon holes for the small screw up. The problem with that is the gland needs to also be torqued. I get hoses made at whatever is most convenient. Having JIC caps for the open hydraulic lines is handy. Those cats over on heavyequipment forums are usually very helpful. Oh and buy a good quality 4'x 1/2" breaker bar to get the gland broke loose.

Makes sense about the set screw in the gland nut, since the old hole probably won't line up after torquing gland nut.

Great idea about the caps while hoses are off.
Any idea what size the hydraulic hose fittings are? Are there different sizes for the hoses?

Just speaking for the ones I've done:
- Some of the loader hoses are 1/2" 4-wire. This is not a common hose you'll find at any parts store - most of the hose you get there is 2-wire (lower pressure).
- The hoses for the boom, dipper, and bucket, are 5/8", standard pressure. Again, not a common size. You can drop to a common 1/2", but you'll loose a little flow - although maybe not enough to notice. I just called around and found a shop with 5/8" hose.
- Most of the fittings off the spool valve and on the hoe are #12 JIC.

I got three different sizes I think 1/2"- 3/4"- 1" male and female two of each. The caps are over 100 miles away and not sure where I got them online. That gland screw on my 580K takes a #26 drill bit per the manual and that works perfect.

Has anyone bought seals from All States? They are priced very competitive. Not sure if they are any good though.
