I was using my 555d, when it just decided to die on me. Checked a fuse, changed it and started right up, but only ran for another 10 min before dying again. Fuse wasnt blown this time. I changed the fuel filter thinking it could be clogged, but have had no luck. I think I primed it correctly. I loosened the lines at the head, turned over the motor and there were only a few bubbles coming out. I tried this several times with no luck. I'm not familiar with the fuel system setup on the 555d. I changed a filter on my tc 30 new holland and only took 5 min to prime. It started right up. Is there something different I need to do. I've read things mentioning bleeder valves on the pump and at filters. It may not have anything to do with my problem anyway. I'm hoping my pump hasn't gone bad. How can I tell?

Sounds a lot like a failed fuel shutoff solenoid. Screwed in the injection pump, has a single wire attached.

I thought it may be something like that. I wasnt sure what that was on the top side of the pump that had the wire going to it. Seems to be a relatively cheap fix of $45.00 or so on eBay. Thanks for the input!

Well.....got the new fuel shut off solenoid. Put it on. Kept trying to start with no luck. Bled lines again at injectors. Finally started and idled good for about 5 min. While I was putting tools away, it died again and wouldn't even try to start. Just turning over............stumped. Battery was getting weak. May put on charger over night and try to bleed lines tomorrow. When I loosen the lines at injectors, There was hardly anything coming out while trying to start. Just a few bubbles. After running for 5 min I would assume that it was bled good enough to run that long. While running, it was idling low then would come up a little, go back down staying sporadic. Ideas???

Sometimes the primer sucks air. Had to put a new one on mine.

Well after a couple of days thinking about everything. Figured out that the fuel was not coming past the filter. Took it off twice before realizing I had the gasket on the filter covering the slots that allows the fuel to go in the filter. Took that off, put where it's suppose to go on the upper housing, put filter on and had it primed and running within 10 min. (my blonde moment). Rick b hit it on the head. Fuel solenoid was the original problem and me not knowing how to install was the last problem. Happy tractoring!

Let me guess, NAPA or Wix fuel filter? Have made service calls to find filter inlet groove has an O-ring in it cause it looks like it needs one there, but don't. Glad you found it!

Welp! I let a u joint go bad on me on my drive shaft operating the hydraulic pump and now it separated having to replace not only the $30.00 u joint, but now the hub that bolts onto the front of the motor at the crank pulley and the shaft. Went from a $30.00 mistake to a $600.00 mistake (parts only). It could possibly be another $350.00 mistake if it damaged my radiator. I see where it hit it, but haven't had a chance to actually check for leaks. If someone tells you to replace a u joint, don't hesitate, just do it.

On a good note.........I actually, by the grace of god, found the whole shaft assembly on eBay, used, for $150.00. Now, I still have to install it. Hope I can do it. The shaft on the pump end just slides off like a pto hook up, but I can barely get to the 4 bolts on the hub that bolt to the crankcase pulley. Can't get any leverage to break bolts loose, since there is minimal room. Also, my front bucket is all the way down with no way to lift it up, so it's even in the way. Any suggestions??

Can you get those bolts with a crow foot socket. Those tight places are a real pain.
If you do get the loader up, make sure it's supported real well before you get beneath it. Best of luck, and do what Rick B says. Always.

I can actually get a 3/8 drive rachet with socket on the bolt. Just no room to put leverage on it. I'm gonna buy a couple more air hoses to run my air rachet. Machine is about 200' from my shop.
