545c pre start

My new, 3000 hour,545c tractor has a couple of bugs. 1) is there a glow plug or any kind of pre heat for ignition or do I just fire it up. It starts fine but am curious what will happen as winter sets in. 2) Any way to free up the dial that adjust the speed of the 3 pt. lift arms. Once again they function but the dial if stuck.
