Any opinions on this rig for clearing residential driveways?

Tractor is 4WD, front mount blower, 1997, 60HP.

Also, transmission says "reverser"..??.good?

60 hp is nice size for most all snow events.

Frt blower handy but a bit tricky to judge closeness to object due to viewing angles.
If doing residential drives you probably will need a back blade to get close to garage doors as that blower will always leave a small pile at the door.
And home owners just don't like that'

The absolute best for residential contracts is a rear mount blower that blows when pulling forward.
Costly, but FAST! Back in, drop blower, drive away.

Front mounted blower is GREAT for long curvy drives, but commercially for short drives in dense developments, well I don't think it is the most productive, even with added back blade to get close to the door, you need to blow your way in, reverse, drop blade up close, pull out snow and blow again.
That doubles your time spent in each drive.

Good luck, and consider my comments as food for thought.

Yes the reverser transmission is a power reverser i believe 12 speed F/R/. Lots of options for speeds..

PILOON, I like the idea of an inverted bower too, but it really doesn't work well for moving piles of snow unless you can drive over the piles first.

Ed, How does the reverser work?

Thank you,

I don't think the pull type blower will work very good in heavy wet snow or deep snow. To do a driveway you are driving over the snow twice before you are going to blow it.

A reverser is one of 2 types, manual and power. You have a your gears speeds, 8, 12, 16 etc. These are only a speed, direction is selected by the reverser level, most located on the left of the steering wheel where you can get it with your fingers. A manual you need to clutch before selecting/changing direction, a power you do not. I have seen some where you may not have the same selection of speeds in both directions, other do. Some reverse is faster than the same speed going forward, some are the same.

Thanks for all the info.

This rig has a gearbox in the back to transfer the PTO to the front. It extends out past the 3-point lift arms. Is it possible to extend the 3-point arms so I could use a back blade on the 3-point?

Thank you.

You can select a gear, then go forward and back without clutching. When your moving you can shift on the go to a different gear but you have to clutch. When driving high speeds clutch is extremely needed or your tractor will stall. I use clutch all the time. Even at slow speeds, it saves your clutch alot.

I have a 5085M and a 4700 with the reverser tranny. I still drive them like Syncros. Syncro is my favorite gearbox. Who ever thinks i'm stupid. Ehydro sucks.
