54 Ford NAA Piston Type pump OVERLOADED?

Seems like the rear seal of my hydraulic pump for the 3 point hitch just let loose. I thought it was the o-rings where it connects to the lines, but after checking it more closely it's leaking right from the seam of the back portion of the pump. I was told that I probably overloaded the hydraulics. I was wondering about that answer because I would think the pressure relief valve would let go first. This pump is one I purchased about 1 year ago and had been rebuilt. I did have a heavier brush hog post hole digger on the 3-point hitch, but it seemed to be working fine until this happened. What's your thoughts about this? It didn't seem like it was struggling to lift the post hole digger...??

Either a weak casting, poor machining, or the relief is stuck. How long is the warranty?

I spoke with the person I purchased the pump from (through email) and they said since it is over one year (14mos) there is no warranty. Offered to rebuild it for 50 dollars plus shipping or send a replacement seal kit for 12 dollars. I think I am going to replace the seals myself and check the sealing surfaces for flatness before reassembling it. About the relief valve... Last year I rebuilt the 3-point hitch hydraulics and I also checked the relief valve to make sure it worked free and it looked good. So unless I missed something I think that should be fine. I think I'm going to find something when I take apart the pump which I want to do asap. I'm in the process of checking around here in CT for someone who might have the seal kit so I don't have to wait for a online order. Thanks for your thoughts about this...
