5310 John Deere
Hi all, Great Forum
I am hoping somebody would have an idea as to what could be the issue on my yr 2000 5310 John Deere Tractor.
I just installed a new clutch due too PTO always on and find out the A,B,C gear shift on the left side sitting in the cab is jammed but the rest of the gears operate as they should.
I do not see any linkage for the gear shift but do see a plate below the seat that can be removed. not sure weather to split the machine again or maybe can fix below seat?

Welcome to TBN!

If it is a collar shift transmission, I would start by looking under the gearshift inspection cover:

Hi Thank you, yes it has a collarshift transmission yr 2000
All other gears work very smoothly just the A,B,C gear shift is stuck in B.
Would the top plate under seat be easier to check or side plate on the right side by the hydraulic filter.

If you can get to the top plate easily, I would remove that. Then, you can see whether the problem is in the shifter or the forks.

Thank you very much, My deepest appreciation to you, I owe you a cold beer…as soon as I started to wiggle and remove top plate the gear shift had a bit more play in it, when I took the plate off, i noticed the cylinder/rod closest to me did not look right in configuration with the its twin and noticed it seemed tight moving back and forth.
Cleaned and lubed up a now moves very easy.
Reinstalled and works like it should.
Thank you again!
