I thought the mystery was "There are 53 bicycles and four men in a room. One man gets shot. Why?"

1. Is guy dead from natural causes? No

2. If #1 is no, is the guy's death an accident? No

3. If #2 is no, is the guy's death a suicide? No

Is there anyone else in the room? Yes

If so, did they (s/he) have anything to do with the reason the man is laying dead on the floor? Yes

Is the quantity 53 significant? Yes
Is the dead man on the floor in the same room as the 53 bicycles? Yes

There are probably different versions of the way it starts out. Plus it's been many years (over 20) since I first heard this, and I might have remembered it wrong, but the basic story is the same.
