5254 Rear end squeak

My 5254 has an anoying squeak in the rear end when moving either foreward or in reverse.

More prominent when used for the first 5 to 10 minutes. NOT associated with any attachments. My dealer has looked at it and said that Cub told them it was NORMAL and probably a dry seal.

I have noticed a squeaking when applying presure on the brakes. My thinking is that it is related to the brakes. Any ideas?

Mine squeeks as well. I always assumed it was brake related.
I intented to jack it up and check it out but never have.

Been under there. Can't see anything around the transmission because of the tires and frame. The manual tells how to adjust the brake from behind (around the 3 point hitch). NOT with my big hands.

Still, it is annoying. Been doing that since about 8 hours old.

I had the squeak problem. Dealer adjusted the brake, squeak is gone. I doubt Cub said it's normal. Dealer dosn't want to deal with the problem.

Thanks for the info. Monday I will have to INSIST that they fix it. Also, no one notified me about the safety recall CC - 496. Good time to have that done also.

The notices were generated base on serial number i believe, your machine may not be effected.

According to the info posted here by Cub Tech, my machine serial number is within the affected machines. Thanks for the input.

sounds to me like that squeak is in the brake disc on the right hand side of the tractor rearend it gets shiny when u run it and when it sits over nite the moisture puts a little rust on it makin it squeak and then the more u run it the quieter it gets
