5252 electrical problem

The Cub guys tell me the failure of the headers on the muffler basically cooked the dash.
They could consistantly get all functions with a new dash and limited or no function with the old dash.

I OK'd the repair and asked them to save the dash for me, I'll open it up, just out of curiosity to see if there is noticable damage.

They brazed the muffler and added some gussets to strengthen the joints, that's another design flaw in this tractor.

Hope to get it back this week.

Well I guess it was my turn. My PTO wouldn't kick in and I knew it wasn't a PTO adjustment. I traced power from the pto switch to the relay but I wasn't getting anything out of the relay. I remembered your post about the dash panel being your problem. Luckily I had a complete console that I picked up on ebay for 99 cents. I pulled my dash panel assembly and it was wrinkle melted on the side facing the muffler. I installed the panel from the spare console and everything is good. I suspect this damage happened before I opened up the engine compartment. To be safe I will be adding some heat proofing material to protect the dash.
