5230 case tractor rpm surge

hello everybody i have a 5230 case and the rpm surges from 150 rpm down any help would be greatly appreciated thank you very much

Are your figures correct as cranking speed for engine would be around 300 rpm's. ??? low idle around 800 rpm ????

Or are you talking PTO rpm,s

Need engine rpm's to make a proper judgement ?????

engine rpms drop about 150 rpm and when driving they drop range from 1000-2500 rpm any help greatly appreciated

sounds like your getting air into fuel system these units have a problem with the fuel hoses coming out of the tank,first check the hose right at the little in line fuel filter for cracking if it looks old you might have to replace,to test the problem you could try putting a hose into tank and hooking it to your fuel system and see if problem goes away.

Ditto that, but first be certain the filter isn't plugged.

thats right air ingression usually causes rpm surges,if those are your symptoms air is likely getting in somewhere.Do you have difficulty starting it?

the tractor starts good but idling and driving the rpm changes about 150 rpms

have you tried fuel filters yet is there any fuel leaks anywhere,to determine if its mechanical is it a consistant surge,does the linkage on the fuel pump move back and forth in unison with rpm changes

I'd start with new fuel filters as well as checking the air filter.
